Frances Twomey

Managing Partner

Frances is a native of Mountrath, Co. Laois and has called Limerick home since 1977. Frances’ primary area of expertise is Personal Injury Litigation and has represented many clients in large complicated personal injury actions arising out of road traffic accidents, industrial accidents, medical negligence actions. Frances also represents clients in non-jury actions.


Frances is very much a dominant force in the Personal Injury list when The High Court sits in Limerick. Frances’s expertise in this area is vast. Frances is a former member of the Governing Council of the Law Society of Ireland and was a long servant of the Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Ireland. She is widely consulted by colleagues and also by attendees at the courses she has lectured on in her area of expertise.


Frances has been involved in the production and presentation of nationwide workshops on behalf of the Law Society. Frances holds an Honours LL.B. degree from UCG and an Honours B.A Law & European Studies degree from U.L.

Ellen Twomey

Partner

Ellen joined the firm’s previous entity in 1999 and qualified as a solicitor in 2002. Her main areas of experience and practice are civil litigation and tort law.


Ellen has represented her clients at both Circuit Court and High Court level. Ellen became a Partner of the firm in 2007. Ellen holds an Honours Degree in Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies from UCD and a Diploma in Employment Law from The Law Society of Ireland. She has also lectured in Law at HSI College Limerick and for the Law Society.


Ellen is married to Michael Purtill B.L., a Barrister briefed daily by the firm, and who specialises in litigation.


Ellen achieved one of the highest awards ever ruled in the High Court in Limerick in 2014.

Jerry Twomey

Partner, Accredited Mediator & Technology Officer

Jerry qualified as a Solicitor in 2011 after a career in the electronics design industry. Jerry is now a partner in the firm.


Jerry brings a wealth of technology experience and analytical engineering skills to the firm. Jerry received an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queens University of Belfast in 1994. Jerry has previously worked as a Senior Integrated Circuit Design Engineer. Companies he worked for included Parthus in Dublin, Dallas Semiconductor in Dallas, Texas, Lattice Semiconductor in Silicon Valley, California and Avocent in Shannon, Co. Clare.


Jerry joined the firm in 2008 and specialises in Personal Injury Litigation. Jerry acts for clients who have been injured in accidents of any kind. Jerry has considerable experience acting for clients who have been the victims of sexual or other abuse, as a child or as an adult.


Jerry used to also advise on Criminal, Probate and Family Law and holds a Certificate in District Court Practice from The Law Society of Ireland. Jerry is a CEDR qualified Accredited Mediator.

Caitríona Healy

Solicitor

Caitríona graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2004 with an honours Bachelor of Law degree (LL.B.). She qualified as a solicitor in 2009 having trained with Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors in Listowel, County Kerry.  Caitríona worked across various departments gaining extensive experience in that firm until she joined Frances Twomey & Co. Solicitors LLP in January 2021. 


Caitríona represents clients in all aspects of commercial and residential property transactions for both purchasers and vendors, including sales, purchases, commercial and residential mortgages, voluntary transfers and registration of title. She acts for both landlords and tenants, advising on, drafting and negotiating commercial and agricultural leases and private residential letting agreements. She regularly advises on property rights including easements and rights of way.


Caitríona’s role also involves advising clients on succession rights and drafting wills, trusts and other testamentary documents.  Caitríona deals with Probate applications and the administration of estates.  She is experienced in drafting enduring powers of attorney and the registration of same in the High Court. She also advises clients in relation to Family Law matters and acts on behalf of vulnerable clients in respect of applications under the Wards of Court procedure.   


Caitríona's clients range from private individuals to clubs, companies and other voluntary organisations.  She holds a Diploma in Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring from the Law Society of Ireland, is an Accredited Mediator and she is also qualified to practice in England and Wales. She has volunteered with the Free Legal Advice Clinic and also lectured to students in the Law Society of Ireland.
